Monsoon Wedding

Hey all, sorry for the long gap. I was really busy in the wedding season that has just kicked off in my city. It might be hard to believe that my best friend just got married yesterday. :D We are all very happy for her, as she had been in a relationship with her husband for the last 6 years. Long time!!!!
Weddings are an amazing occasion. Meeting old friends, getting in touch with all the friends who you have been wanting to meet since so long. The colors, the happiness and all the hoopla of friends meeting and the ones getting married. In my culture weddings are a huge affair. There are dances, songs, dresses, bridal showers, and four functions for just the wedding.
Yes this might sound amazing. But it is fun and hectic all at once. Our weddings are a huge affair. There is nothing like having a house full of people, who are all pumped up on the wedding. There is no concept of a Bridezilla in our culture.
Instead we have a nightmare of a time dealing with the family and the extended family which comes to stay over during the wedding. :)
The Indian cinema is a huge deal, so imagine a wedding like that, but add a little more spice to it. There are so many new love stories which start up on weddings, families meet each other after a long gap. The kids are all grown up, and so sparks are in the air. There is little or no supervision which can be seen around, and all in all its a huge affair.
To get an idea of how a real desi wedding is watch 'Monsoon Wedding'. It is one of the most practically depicted movie about a 'desi' wedding so far. All the worries about money which parents have, new romances, a bit of family drama, and lots of lewd jokes flying around among the elders at the gatherings.
