Ella Enchanted

There is always a story which has a special meaning in our lives. Or there is always a fairy tale which we can easily relate to. This might not be the case for boys, but for girls, fairy tales are what make our dreams begin.
I was around 12 or 13 when I first read Ella Enchanted. It went straight to my heart. It was the first story which made my heart melt. It was 'the' fairy tale for me. I was so crazy about it, that I must have read it countless times. I had first found it in my school library. Since I could not find a copy of it in any of the stores around me; I then found it online to read. The blessings of the internet.
Let me start with the story line. For those who have not read the book, might have watched the movie. But let me tell you, the movie does not even hold a candle to the book. The book is a world which the reader can disappear into. I wish that I could be there with the characters, as they go through the many different problems put in front of them.
There is nothing better than sitting with a book and falling into a completely different world, it is the world of the book. For me all books are great. For me the story which makes me want to go back as soon as I can to is the one which deserves and award. It takes a lot of effort in creating a world, thousands of people would want to live in and experience.
Ella Enchanted for me was the ultimate fairy tale. A princess who has to obey every command which is given to her. The poor girl had no control over what she did. The start of her romance with the prince.
The reason which makes me so emotional about this story is the fact that it has a base in reality. All of us have that one person or people who we can not say  no to. It doesn't matter what they ask of us, we just jump to do what they want. Usually this behavior is thought to be evident in reference to our parents. But let's face the facts, we all have defied our parents at some point in our life. We have not always been obedient children.
The way to break the curse is by self control. The book outlines the way in which Ella has to break the curse, and the occasion she uses to break the curse is in fact heart breaking. She has to disobey a direct command. She uses her will to refuse the proposal of her one true love. There is other way around it. In the end, the story does have a happy ending, but it got there through a lot of hurdles....
We all would like to have happy endings. We all would like to have the one person we can defy yet still be loved by them. We all would like to have our very own fairy godmothers, but these things come with a price.....
However, the persistence shown in the novel by Ella is what we should learn. There should be no giving up, until we get what we want. Life is limited, so everything that we dream of, we should try our best to fulfill.
